If you checked out my July newsletter- you got the “Perfect Peach Dump Cake” recipe. Well, this is the fall version! You will definitely want to make this all fall long.
Ingredients:
· 4 sliced apples (we like using granny smith)
· 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
· ½ cup brown sugar
· 1 tsp cinnamon
· 4 tbsp apple juice
· 1 tbsp cornstarch
· 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
· ½ cup unsalted butter (room temp)
Directions:
· Preheat oven to 375 degrees
· Make apple filling:
- Slice apples (can peel them or leave skin on, can slice or dice them)
- Melt the 2 tbsp of butter in skillet, stir in apples, sugar, cinnamon and 3 tbsp apple juice
- Cook 4-6 minutes covered in pan until apples are soft
- In other small dish combine cornstarch and remaining 1 tbsp apple juice
- Add cornstarch/juice mixture to pan and stir to thicken
- Cook additional 3-5 minutes
· Pour apple filling into a 9x13in baking dish
· Cover apple filling with the dry cake mix
· Cut remaining ½ cup butter into small pads and lay on top of cake mix
