Families across West Des Moines, Clive, and Urbandale have several solid options for egg hunts this year! Get the kids out and about and have some fun rounding up those eggs.

West Des Moines

West Des Moines Community Church hosts its Easter Extravaganza on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at 4501 Mills Civic Parkway. A self-guided storybook journey through games, candy stops, an egg hunt, and a meet-and-greet with the Easter Bunny.

For families who wants something a little different, the Des Moines Children's Museum has a sensory-friendly hour from 5–6 p.m. on April 3, followed by a “glowtastic” egg hunt from 6–8 p.m. No candy, but a scavenger hunt with prizes instead.

Clive

The West Lakes Hy-Vee at 1725 Jordan Creek Parkway hosts an Easter Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Urbandale

Living History Farms holds its annual Easter tradition on April 4 from 9 a.m. to noon, with ongoing egg and toy hunts divided by age throughout the morning, plus horse-drawn wagon rides and a visit with the Easter Bunny.

Closer to home, Creekside Church at 2743 82nd Place hosts a hunt on April 4 at 10:30 a.m.

Looking Ahead to Next Spring

If you've got little ones, these kinds of neighborhood and community events are one of the small things that make West Des Moines, Clive, and Urbandale feel like a place to put down roots, and not just a place to buy a house. If you're weighing a move to any of these communities, I'm always happy to talk through what a specific neighborhood is actually like day to day, egg hunts included.
